Ask your Tally books questions in plain language

13 June 20264 min read

Most people use Tally by opening one report at a time and reading down the screen. There is a faster way. You can ask your books a question in plain language and get a direct answer, the same way you would ask a colleague.

From reports to questions

A report shows you everything and leaves you to find the number you want. A question goes straight to the answer. Instead of opening the outstanding report and scrolling, you ask which parties owe me more than thirty days, and you get the list.

Questions you can ask

  • What is the closing balance of this party.
  • Show me sales for last month compared to the month before.
  • Who are my top ten customers by value this year.
  • How much GST do I owe for this period.
  • What is the stock value of this item right now.

How the answer is found

When you ask, the AI assistant you connected reads your synced books through The Usual Accountant and returns the figure. The data is a read only copy of your real Tally Prime books, so the answer matches what is in Tally as of your most recent sync.

It does not change your books

Asking a question only reads. It never creates a voucher or edits a ledger. You can ask as many questions as you like without any risk to your accounts, and your accountant keeps working in Tally as usual.

Ask your Tally books anything.

Connect Tally Prime to the AI assistant you already use and get answers from your real books in seconds.
